Boryeong City in South Chungcheong Province(Chungcheongnam-do) has officially launched the 2025 Local Government One-Month Stay Support Project. Through Public Notice No. 2025-357, Boryeong City announced the recruitment of participants for its One-Month Stay Program, which runs from March 3 to March 11. They plan to select approximately 15 teams to take part in this exciting opportunity.

The travel period for the program is from March 29 to June 1, 2025, and participants can apply for a stay ranging from 7 to 30 days, depending on their schedule. Eligible participants are individuals aged 19 and over, residing outside of South Chungcheong Province as of the announcement date. Anyone with the ability to promote Boryeong’s tourism resources via social media platforms such as blogs, YouTube, or Instagram is welcome to apply.

Although the Boryeong One-Month Stay is a program organized by the city, it is part of the broader initiative by South Chungcheong Province to boost regional tourism under the “2025–2026 Visit Chungnam Year.” As part of the project, participants are allowed to visit other cities and counties within Chungcheong Province, excluding Boryeong, and use the support funds for food, transportation, and entrance fees to tourist attractions, with up to 750,000 KRW available.

However, travel outside of Boryeong within the province is limited to 30% of the overall travel plan. Additionally, participants can receive up to 1.45 million KRW in accommodation support, but they must stay in registered accommodations within Boryeong to qualify for this benefit. This important detail should be kept in mind when planning your trip.

Based on the my experience, having participated in many local government one-month stay programs across the country, it’s clear that the primary goal of these initiatives is to stimulate local tourism. As such, those with a solid social media presence, especially those who are considered influencers, tend to have an advantage in the selection process.

However, even if your social media reach is a bit limited, there is still a way to capture the attention of the program organizers. The key is to focus your application on Boryeong’s unique tourism resources.

While you can travel to other regions within Chungnam, this program is organized by Boryeong City, so it’s essential to study the city in-depth and create a travel plan that’s fully dedicated to exploring the city. Boryeong is home to many must-see locations, including Daecheon Beach, Jukdo Sanghaiwon, Seongjusan Natural Recreation Forest, Gaehwa Art Park, Muchangpo Beach, Oeyondo, Chungcheong Swimming Fortress, Naengpong Hot Springs, Boryeongho, and Oseosan Mountain. These spots have been officially designated as the “Boryeong 9 Scenic Spots Plus,” and incorporating them into your itinerary would be a great way to strengthen your application.

Additionally, many local governments put considerable effort into successfully hosting regional festivals to contribute to tourism. If you can propose a concrete plan to help promote Boryeong’s festivals, it could significantly improve your chances of being selected. Unfortunately, Boryeong’s biggest festival, the Boryeong Mud Festival, starts
